Every product on this site goes through the same basic filter before it gets added.
We look at the rating and the number of ratings together, not just the star average. A product with a 4.8 rating from 12 reviews tells us almost nothing — it could be a brand new listing with a handful of friendly reviews from launch week. We generally prioritize listings with a meaningful volume of reviews, because a large sample size of real buyers is a much stronger signal than a small one, even if the average score is a touch lower.
We read a slice of the negative reviews, not just the positive ones. Five-star reviews tell you a product works for someone. One- and two-star reviews tell you how it fails, and for whom. If the negative reviews cluster around a specific, avoidable issue (sizing, a fragile part, misleading photos), we either skip the product or make sure that context is visible before you click through.
We check whether the price matches the category norm. Amazon prices shift constantly, and what looks like a deal today can be a markup tomorrow. We can't guarantee real-time accuracy on every listing (Amazon's own price is always the source of truth — check it before buying), but we try not to feature things that look artificially inflated compared to similar products.
We avoid categories we don't understand well enough to vet. We'd rather leave a category out of the store entirely than fill it with products we can't honestly evaluate.
None of this makes us infallible — Amazon listings change, sellers change, and a product that looked solid last month can slip. If you ever spot something on this site that seems off, we genuinely want to hear about it.
